TEKS

Fall Semester

Unit TitleSystems IntroBiological SystemsEarth Systems
Time3 weeks6 weeks4 weeks
UnderstandingsStudents will understand the difference between a system and a heap, and learn the rules that define a system. Students will understand how numbers and mathematics form a system. Students will understand how logical thinking is a system, and how to analyze a problem and use reasoning to come up with potential solutions.Students will understand the human brain, identify its major parts and functions, and explore how parts of the brain interact with the body. Students will understand that all organisms are interdependent and form relationships. Students will understand that humans and invasive species can cause system disruptions that change ecosystems and break the rules of a system.Students will understand that the Earth is composed of many systems and is a part of many systems. Students will understand the different branches of Earth Science and how they form an interconnected system.
