Understandings | Students will learn how to work together as a team, reflect on their own interests and learning styles, and learn their classmatesโ interests to form a cohesive community. Students will get to know their classmates, teacher, and GT classroom and foster relationships through social interactive activities. | Students will learn how communication evolved through the evolution of technology and learn how to use Morse and Binary Code. Students will learn the basics of Scratch coding and how to code the Sphero robots. | Students will explore various art mediums, identify mediums of personal interest, and determine credible sources for research. Students will research an artist and create an art piece that represents themselves based on the skill/technique/medium of the artist studied. | Students will use Sphero coding to navigate through a map and understand how to program a sequence to complete a task. Students will work together to create a map (zoo) with walkways big enough for Spheros to travel on. | Students will discover the power of their own voice, learn about the power and importance of listening, and gain empathy for people different from themselves. Students will develop interpersonal skills by formulating questions that lead to deeper understanding. |

Students will learn how to code a Sphero Bolt to move along a path with obstacles (e.g., Rodeo/Amazing Race),. | Students will understand the history and origins of logos and discover the power of logos within their design and influence. Students will give an organized presentation, describe entrepreneurs, and collaborate with peers using digital tools. | Students will identify Rube Goldberg and the 6 simple machines, and sketch and design a Rube Goldberg Machine. Students will utilize the skills of communication, teamwork, and grit in working with a team on their design, applying the engineering design process. | Students will embark on a race around the world utilizing worldly knowledge to pinpoint their next move. Students will pose and answer geographic questions about distributions and patterns for selected world regions and countries |
