Understandings

Students will understand the rules and procedures of the course and share about themselves while connecting to others using hexagonal thinking. Students will participate in team building to foster relationships and social interactions.Students will identify investments and personal financial goals and learn how to use financial tools for investing. Students will learn how to create a balanced portfolio by investing in stocks, mutual funds, and bonds.

Students will learn about different mediums of art, research local community art, and explain how art benefits the community. 

Students will collaborate to create a large-scale art piece that spreads positive messages.

Students will understand how to write a formal letter to faculty to request a club or organization. Students will design posters to show support for classmates in extracurricular activities.Students will discuss what makes their community unique and explain how their messages impact their community. Students will research a cause or event and create a product (e.g., float, magazine, service project).

Students will examine skills needed for entrepreneurship and determine how to use them.

Students will understand how an audience influences content creation and create a commercial for a client.

Students will develop foundational coding skills through block-based programming. Students will learn to precisely control movement, speed, and create animations using robots.

Understandings

Students will use geometry skills to navigate Sphero around a grid (e.g., Mars mat). Students will program a robot to move in repetitive yet varying patterns to create a work of art (Spirograph).Students will learn the art of agreeing to disagree using logical progression and fact-based rebuttals. Students will understand debate fundamentals and structure a well-thought-out opinion based on research.Students will check in with their portfolio, make last-minute trades, and prepare to finish the game. Students will look for stocks doing well to invest more in or ones that are losing to trade.

Students will understand the roots of space exploration and the Artemis Program. 

Students will design, build, and test rockets and crew modules using the engineering design process. 

Students will explore exoplanets and create a travel brochure.
