I will be able to understand the purpose of safe warm- up practices as applied to musical theatre.

I will be able to develop examples in various genres of movement, acting, voice, and personal creativity.

I will be able to develop professional audition techniques.

I will be able to analyze the dramatic structure of musical theatre in various mediums and how they influence society.

I will explore all the parts of the voice and be able to use my voice safely and effectively.

I will be able to demonstrate body mechanics, (muscles, bones, and body posture), in relation to movement in dance.

I will be able to explore pantomime as an art form in relation to non-verbal communication for characterization.

I will be able to explore the differences between movement for characterization and choreographed dance sequences.

I will be able to explore the various styles of dance in musical theatre

I will be able to develop basic dance technique and terminology within different dance genres.

I will investigate the progression and evolution of dance in musical theatre throughout history.

I will be able to analyze story structure and characterization within a musical.

I will be able to analyze the meaning of the lyrics and character within the song and be able to compose new material.

I will be able to describe and appraise personal, professional, and peer critique.

I will analyze and investigate the progression and evolution of acting styles throughout history.

I will develop the elements for a professional audition; resume, headshot, accompanist, musical cutting, song book, and etiquette.

I will be able to describe and appraise by writing a critique for a live performance.

Spring Semester

I will be able to develop the elements of the pre-production process: including audition, callbacks, and the roles of the production team.
