Fall Semester

I will be able to create safe warm up practices as applied to musical theatre.

I will be able to develop examples in various genres of movement, acting, voice, and personal creativity.

I will be able to model the process of a professional musical theatre audition.

I will be able to analyze the dramatic structure of musical theatre in various mediums and how they influence society.

I will be able to perform the interdependence of theatrical elements.

I will be able to articulate musical theatre as a reflection of life and culture.

I will be able to employ the language of musical theatre with all artistic partners in a musical theatre production.

I will demonstrate the parts of the voice and be able to use my voice safely and effectively

I will be able to experiment in elements of written music and as it relates to musical theatre

I will be able to experiment in various vocal styles in musical theatre

I will articulate the progression and evolution of musical theatre throughout history

I will be able to experiment with body mechanics, (muscles, bones, and body posture), in relation to movement in dance.

I will be able to demonstrate pantomime as an art form in relation to non verbal communication for characterization.

I will be able to demonstrate the differences between movement for characterization and choreographed dance sequences.

I will be able to perform the various styles of dance in musical theatre

I will be able to demonstrate basic dance terminology and technique within different dance genres.

I will articulate and examine the progression and evolution of dance in musical theatre throughout history.

I will be able to create and sustain a believable character within a musical

I will be able to analyze the meaning of the lyrics and character within the song as it relates to the the musical as a whole

I will be able to defend and evaluate personal, professional, and peer critique

I will articulate the progression and evolution of acting styles throughout history

I will continue developing the elements for a professional audition; resume, headshot, accompanist, musical cutting, song book, and etiquette

I will be able to defend and evaluate by writing a critique for a live performance

Spring Semester

Class Performances (Showcase or Musical)

Songs taught, dances taught, staging, run-throughs, dress rehearsals, show and Post-production

I will be able to create the elements of the pre-production process: including audition, callbacks, and the roles of the production team

I will be able to perform the music and sing my part for all music in the production

I will be able to perform choreography for the production.

I will be able to perform my blocking, as well as create and sustain my character throughout the performance

I will demonstrate my music, dancing, and lines to facilitate a full run through of the production.

I will be able to participate in the critiquing process within the production environment.

I will be able to apply my knowledge of the production process in a live performance.

I will be able to reflect and evaluate myself and my peers in the production process.
