Aurelio Hernandez - Principal
Mr. Hernandez became the 5th Principal in the history of Taft High School in the Summer of 2023. Mr. Hernandez began his career at Southwest High School as a Social Studies teacher before coming to Northside in 2012 to serve as a Social Studies Coordinator at John Jay High School. He then served as an Assistant Principal at Jordan Middle School and Harlan High School before serving as Vice/Associate Principal at Warren High School.

Mr. Hernandez earned his Bachelors Degree from UTSA and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

Mr. Hernandez believes in creating a safe and positive campus culture that fosters student growth and achievement.

Jennifer Rios - Associate Principal

Jennifer Rios has been at Taft HS as the Associate Principal since September 2022. Prior to being the Associate Principal she served as an Assistant Principal at Taft HS for six years. She began her teaching career 15 years ago at Harlandale HS. She then moved over to NISD in 2012 and taught CTE courses and coached at Brennan HS before moving into administration in 2015.

Mrs. Rios attended the University of The Incarnate Word, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Management. She then obtained her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

Mrs. Rios believes in building positive relationships and creating a safe environment for all students and staff.

    Ms. Rodriguez is a seasoned educator and leader whose career is marked by innovation and dedication, primarily within Northside ISD (NISD).  

    She began her career in the classroom, notably helping to open Zamora Middle School in South San Antonio ISD. Her journey brought her back to NISD, where she has taken on numerous roles across various campuses. This progression includes serving as a Secretary at NAC, a Technologist at the opening of Warren High School, a Teacher at Marshall High School, and a Department Coordinator at the opening of Brennan High School. Ms. Rodriguez also played a key administrative role in renaming Business Careers High School to NSITE and served as the Campus Director for NISD's second magnet middle school, Zachry Magnet. Most recently, she returned to NISD from South San Antonio High School, where she served as the Academic Dean, and currently holds the same role within the Taft community.

    A passionate advocate for continuous learning, Ms. Rodriguez holds an Associate Degree from San Antonio College, a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State, and a Master of Education and additional post-graduate work from Lamar University. She firmly believes in the power of collaboration, stating, "Together we are better, and every day we can learn something to improve."
