Updates for Taft Advanced Academics

Information for Students and Families

AP Exams:

If you have not paid your AP exam fees, please do so using MySchoolBucks, cash, or check payable to Taft High School. Cash or check payments need to be delivered to Mr. Bernardino in the Counseling Office. 

Dual Credit:

TSIA2 Testing: 

We will be offering TSIA2 testing on campus on various dates throughout the year. Checkout this Google Form to sign up and select a date that works for you: TSIA2 Sign Up. See the Score Requirements for Dual Credit Admission page for further information. 

Steps for completing dual credit application process:
Note: Students who fail to meet application and/or testing deadlines, will be considered ineligible for dual credit courses.

1.Submit Apply Texas application by March 1, 2024.

     - Residency portion must be answered per the parents’/legal guardians’ residency status.

     - Q: How do students know their application has been accepted and can now move on to logging into ACES? 
        A: Students will receive an email with their ACES username and banner ID from Alamo Colleges.

     - Make sure the student provides an accurate email address. Do not use NISD email address because the NISD server blocks college emails

2. Log into ACES account after 3 days of submitting.

     - Student default password will be the first two letters of your last name, IN CAPS, followed by your birth date in MMDDYY format. 
     - Students need to remember their ACES login information for future use.
     - ACES accounts have important student information related to college courses including grades and transcript.
     - Contact the NVC Help Desk at 210-486-4 if you need help logging into your account.
Note: Students who do not provide their SSN on their Apply Texas application will have trouble logging into ACES.  Also, the Apply Texas login username and password CANNOT be used to log into ACES 

3. Activate Your AlamoNAVIGATE or “Start Here” tab
4. Complete GoFAAR and Test Prep in ACES under “Start Here” tab
5. Test Scores (TSI or Exemptions
          - Students will need their banner ID when taking the TSI which can be found via ACES 
6. Residency Documentation (Only if student makes an error on their Apply Texas Application)
7. Complete Dual Credit Student Orientation Online Course in ACES
8. Submit Student/Parent Consent Form
    Note: Students who fail to meet application and/or testing deadlines, will be considered ineligible for dual credit courses.

 

Advanced Spanish 3 Dual Credit:

Congratulations! You received your eligibility letter in the mail that you met the score requirements for Advanced Spanish 3 Dual Credit. This is a very rigorous course that provides students an opportunity to earn college credit through Northwest Vista College. You must follow steps 1-8 above in the section titled: Steps for completing dual credit application process to successfully complete the dual credit enrollment.
