2nd Grade

"Wernli Wildcats are on the prowl for knowledge! It is our vision that everyday, every student will grow in wisdom, character, and confidence." This is our school motto. In Second grade, we strive to create safe environments that foster growth in academics, and in social and emotional well being. Teachers work together to create engaging, multimodal activities that challenge, and that give students opportunities to learn from each other. We establish positive attitudes about differentiated learning early in the school year to promote students encouraging students to take risks.

Our Wildcats will be prowling into the elements of different types of literary genres; Poetry being one of the most popular. In Math, they will be cementing their addition and subtraction facts fluency. Regrouping when adding and subtracting is one of the major units of study. Our Place Value and Money units also prepare our Wildcats for Third Grade. Learning about our world, our country, and our state encompases Social Studies. The study of living things and Science investigations always allows for cooperative learning. Writing rounds up our academics with the application of the writing process to personal narratives, and to writing in all the academic disciplines. Our diverse and rigorous curriculum leaves our Wildcats ready to prowl into the Third Grade ranks.
