Solar Cars

The Solar Car Club is offered to 4th and 5th grade students. Students will work in teams of 3 to design and build their own miniature solar powered race cars from scratch. The teams will only be provided with a solar panel, gear box, and axle rods. 

 

Solar Cars offers students hands-on lessons in teamwork, renewable energy, problem-solving, science and engineering.The students’ hard work will be put to the ultimate test at the end of the season, when they will compete in the Texas Solar Race Car Event - an entire day of racing against other competing schools from Northside as well as other competitors from school districts all around Texas.


Tax Rate Notice
This year's levy to fund maintenance and operations expenditures exceeds last year's maintenance and operations tax levy.
Northside Independent School District ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 1.05 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $30.00.
