Northside Threads is a clothing closet created by the NISD Family Engagement Program in partnership with community volunteers. It serves students and families across the district who need clothing support.
To remove barriers to school attendance by providing students with clothing that helps them feel confident, comfortable, and ready to learn.
Each student may select:
- Five tops
- Five bottoms
- New socks
- New underwear
Currently enrolled students in need of clothing support may access Northside Threads at no cost with a referral from their school counselor.
Students may be eligible for up to two shopping visits per school year, depending on specific criteria. The first visit is available with a counselor referral.
To qualify for a second visit within the same school year, students must:
- Be currently enrolled in a Northside ISD school
- Have no more than two unexcused absences per month
- Have at least three months between visits
Donations
Gently used clothing needed for children 4 - 18 years old.
Girls' Clothing:
- Girls’ jean sizes: All youth sizes - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20
Boys' Clothing:
- Boys’ jean sizes: All youth sizes - 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20
- Young Men's jeans sizes: 28 (width) thru 42+ (width)

Volunteer to sort, wash, fold, tag, or organize at the Threads Clothing Closet.
To volunteer, click “Request to Volunteer!” below to send an email to NISD Threads. Then, complete the Volunteer Background Check Form (also available on the Northside Become a Volunteer or Mentor page).
Help us spread the word and share the news! Inform your friends and community about NISD Threads Clothes Closet.
We also accept monetary donations to purchase new socks and underwear or other needed clothing categories.
