Newcomer

Provide comprehensive support services to students who are Newcomer/Refugees from other countries, their families, and the staff who serve them in an effort to reduce and eliminate barriers to westernized education.

NISD Market

Located inside the Northside Family Engagement Center, the NISD Market provides free food assistance to families in needโ€”no appointment or referral required. Simply walk in during service hours and complete a brief application. We warmly welcome both food and monetary donations to help maintain a steady supply of essential items.

Northside Threads Clothing Closet

Provide support to NISD students and families by providing clothing in an effort to reduce barriers and increase attendance. Clothing is free to families and the student/family must have a counselor referral to access services.

As a part of the Whole Child Department, Family Engagement provides support to staff, families, and community partners to create meaningful relationships that facilitate student success.

The Whole Child Department is focused on aligning wrap-around systems of support to improve each childโ€™s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.

Whole Child programs include Behavior EducationHealth Services, the School Age Parenting Program (SAPP), the Connections ProgramFamily Engagement (Title 1 & 3, Newcomer, Pre-K support & Northside Threads Clothing Closet), Even Start Family LiteracyCounseling & Social Emotional Learning.
