November: ClassDojo Island Dream School Challenge Finalists

Students from Ms. Bickley’s 4th grade class entered the ClassDojo #dojoislandsdreamschool Challenge!!! Their dream school included so many fun and engaging learning zones, including: a playground with a water park, Ms. Bickley’s classroom, a teacher’s lounge, a gym with a pool and hot tub, a gaming room for individual and team play, a student chill space, multimedia center, movie theater, AND a food court with a KFC, McDonald’s, and Chick-fil-A!!!

This challenge was right up their alley! They LOVE being creative and LOVE Dojo Island! They found the most challenging part was building the floors. Conlin said, “We wanted them to be really colorful and fun, but we found out that it took quite a bit of our time designing just the floors! Next time, we think we would go with solid color floors, so we would have more time to work on other details in our dream school.” Lily added, “We also thought building additional floors was really challenging. We were able to do it in a couple of our rooms, but it was tricky trying to balance on one block, so we kept falling off.” Finally, they figured out if you made a platform to build from that was bigger, it was much easier!

Ms. Bickley put the students into four different zones and they had 5-6 students working in each zone. It was easy to communicate with those groups, but when it came to BIGGER decisions like hallways, it was a bit more complicated. “We did figure it out, but we had some trial and error putting up walls and then having to take them down, add hallways, and build them back.” said Jack.

The winning class of the ClassDojo #dojoislandsdreamschool Challenge would get to meet with the designers of Dojo Island! Ms. Bickley’s students decided one thing they would have loved to ask the Dojo Island design team was if their islands could be BIGGER!!! They want more space to build. “We have so many more ideas for our school and a larger island would be AWESOME!” the class shared.

Ms. Bickley’s class did not win the overall challenge, BUT they were finalists in the ClassDojo Dream School Build Challenge!!!

That means they were 1 out of 8 out of 16,000 classrooms chosen as finalists!!!
