Principal
Erika Pruneda - Principal
My name is Erika Pruneda, and I am the proud principal of Los Reyes Elementary. This 2020-2021 school year completes my 4th year serving as the school principal. I am currently in my 20th year as an educator and have had the great privilege of teaching several different grade levels at various schools. Los Reyes Elementary holds a special place in my heart because of the families, students, community and staff that I get to work right alongside every single day. As an educator my commitment to all students, parents and staff is to provide a safe, fun, highly engaging learning environment that allows all students to learn at high levels. Additionally, I am committed to enriching students school experiences with extra curricular activities that allows all students to become overall well rounded citizens. It is my hope that our precious, Los Reyes Longhorns will make long lasting memories, during their time here, that they will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to all of our parents, staff and students for your continued commitment to everything that we do at Los Reyes. I look forward to meeting all of our new families.
Vice Principal
Matthew Scherwitz - Vice Principal

The Vice-Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator.

Hello Longhorn families! My name is Matt Scherwitz and I am honored to be the Vice Principal at Los Reyes Elementary. This will be the start of my third year at Los Reyes. The 2020-2021 school year will be my eighteenth year in education. I began my career in Northside ISD at Thornton Elementary School where I taught Second Grade for seven years and Fourth Grade for two years. After that I was an Admin Intern at Colonies North Elementary for almost 2 years, before I was promoted to Vice Principal. I served as Vice Principal at Colonies North for a little over three years.

I have lived in San Antonio since I was 2 years old. I attended all Northside schools and graduated from John Marshall High School in 2000. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from McMurry University and my Master’s Degree from Schreiner University. I am a huge college football and basketball fan. I attend all UTSA football games. Go Runners! My family is also a volleyball family. My wife and I are always at events watching our daughters play volleyball.

I am looking forward to another year of working with the Los Reyes staff, students, and families. This school year will look very different due to the current pandemic; our goal at Los Reyes remains the same.
At Los Reyes, we ensure the achievement of EVERY student through meaningful relationships, innovative learning and a commitment to excellence.
