I started my path in education two decades ago, teaching 3rd and 5th grade students. It was a rewarding experience that allowed me to shape young minds and ignite a passion for learning. As the years went by, I found myself taking on more leadership responsibilities. In 2012, I became the Vice Principal of Allen Elementary, and in 2015, I was fortunate enough to step into the role of Principal at the same school. These opportunities have allowed me to guide both students and fellow educators towards growth and success.
When I'm not at work, my heart lies with my family. I'm a proud wife and mother of two wonderful daughters. Our family is completed by JoJo, our cherished white German Shepherd.
As the Principal of Dr. Linda G. Mora Elementary, I see a bright future ahead. My vision is to continue fostering a culture of excellence in education, building not only strong minds but also a sense of unity within our community. I'm deeply passionate about being a principal because it allows me to wholeheartedly support both the staff and the students. The love and dedication I bring to this role drive me to be the best leader I can be. What I hold dear for my own children, I wish for every student at Mora Elementary — the chance to prosper and thrive.

My name is Sallie McVay, and I am honored to serve as the Associate Principal of Mora Elementary School. I bring a deep commitment to student success, a passion for literacy, and over 20 years of experience in education.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University–Kingsville and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.
Before stepping into campus leadership, I spent 12 years in the classroom—10 years in Devine ISD and 2 years at Villarreal Elementary—where I developed a strong foundation in instruction and student engagement. I then served for two years as a Writing Academic Support Teacher at Hatchett Elementary, supporting students and teachers in developing writing proficiency across grade levels.
Most recently, I worked in the Curriculum and Instruction Department as a Reading/Language Arts Instructional Support Teacher for six years. In this role, I had the opportunity to collaborate with educators district-wide to enhance literacy instruction and support academic achievement.
As Associate Principal, I am dedicated to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families and to creating a safe, supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
