I was born and raised in Austin and then went to school at Texas A&M University in College Station. I taught there for one year in 1st grade and then moved to Helotes with my husband. He and my 2 children all attended Northside schools. This is my 27th year in NISD. I have taught 3rd and 5th grades as well as Special Education. After teaching for 16 years, I enrolled at Trinity University to earn my master’s in Educational Leadership. I was then Vice Principal at Carson Elementary for 4 years and for 6 years was Principal at Galm Elementary. This is my 2nd year here at Mora.
Thank you for the privilege to work with you and to help your children grow in character and academics. Go Bearcats!

My name is Serena Torres, and I am proud to be the Vice Principal of Mora Elementary School! I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, as an Army brat while my father was stationed at Ft. Bliss. I attended the University of Texas at El Paso (Go Miners!) I moved to San Antonio in 2000 where I began working for Northside Independent School District. I taught at Meadow Village Elementary for 15 years and then moved to Ott Elementary for the next three. I also served as the Administrator Intern at Glenoaks Elementary in 2018. I had the wonderful opportunity to help open Mora Elementary last year and am so grateful for this awesome experience!
I am passionate about helping students reach their potential, along with teachers and parents through meaningful relationships and strong academic instruction. I believe that all students can learn and should enjoy their time at school. I am excited to work with the students, staff, and families at Mora to make it a caring and positive learning environment for all!
