Principal Mrs. Perry
Dana Gilbert-Perry - Principal
My name is Mrs. Gilbert-Perry and I am honored to be the principal of Joe Straus III Middle
School. My staff and I are excited to meet the needs of the students, parents and community
members of Straus.

I am a proud graduate of UTSA where I completed my master's degree and obtained my
leadership certification. I began my teaching career in NISD and have had the distinct privilege
and pleasure to work for NISD for the majority of my 20 years as an educator.

As the principal of Straus Middle School, my goal is to ensure excellence in all we do. We will
do this by always placing kids first; being transparent in our communication with our community;
and above all, providing the highest quality education possible for our students in a safe and
supportive learning environment. I desire to build strong relationships with parents, students,
staff and community members. It is my firm belief that with all of us working together, we will
make your child’s educational experience at Straus exceptional.

If you have any questions, concerns, and/or comments regarding your child's education, my
door is always open. I am here to support you and your child. Please feel free to contact me at
any time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Vice Principal Autumn Peralta
Wendi Autumn Peralta - Associate Principal

The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at wendi.peralta@nisd.net or by phone at (210) 398-2566.

As the vice principal at Straus Middle School, my goal is to create a nurturing environment by building strong relationships with each of our students. My educational background includes over 15 years in ELA as a General Education Teacher. I’ve also been a Reading Specialist, Department Coordinator in English Language Arts, and an Intervention Specialist. I received my Bachelors from the University of Incarnate Word and received my Masters in Reading and Literacy from UTSA. After being in the classroom for so long, I decided to work with all students on campus and went back to school to get my Principal Certification from Lamar University. I love my job and my students! You’ll find that I’m easy to work with and always empathetic to middle school behaviors.
