Principal of Timberwilde Elementary School
Valerie Arce - Principal
My name is Valerie Arce and I am excited to serve this community, staff, and students. I look forward to getting to know your children and working together with you to help them grow and learn.

I received my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2008 and my Masters in Educational Leadership in 2014, both from UTSA. This is my 11th year in Northside ISD. I began my teaching career at Knowlton Elementary where I taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grade bilingual students. In addition to that, I served as the campus Language Support Teacher for two years. I have spent the last five years as the Vice Principal of Cole Elementary. Now, I am humbled and honored to serve as the Principal of Timberwilde Elementary.

I am passionate about ensuring that our students are receiving a high quality education and that their social and emotional health is being nurtured so that they may be able to set goals, make responsible decisions, and reach their full potential. My number one goal is to build strong relationships with the students, staff, and community of Timberwilde Elementary. I wholeheartedly believe that in order for our students to be successful we have to focus on teaching the whole child by developing their social and emotional skills, and this starts with building relationships and trust.

Gracie Guess - Associate Principal

The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at or by phone at 210-397-0415.

I am Gracie Guess and I have been a proud Timberwilde, Timberwolf for the past 7 years. My favorite thing to do is build relationships with our staff, students, and families. I love watching our students progress through grade levels and I love watching our families grow in size.

I am from Corpus Christi, but I have lived in San Antonio since 2000. My husband and I have two boys – a second and a third grader. We also have a grown daughter who is working on becoming a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. She should graduate from UTSA in 2022. Our family grew by one a couple of years ago when she married!

I have a Bachelor of Arts - English degree from Texas A & M in Corpus Christi and a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A & M in Corpus Christi. I received my Principal Certification through the Partners for Educational Leadership Program - Education Service Center, Region 2.

This is my 28th year working in the field of education! My experience includes teaching 7th grade, 5th grade, 2nd grade, and Headstart 3 year olds. I have also been a Reading Recovery Teacher and a Reading Specialist. I have spent the past 16 years as an administrator in a principal and vice principal role.
