Roxanne Gutierrez - Principal
Welcome, Jaguars! My name is Mrs. Roxanne Gutierrez, and I am the proud principal of Villarreal Elementary.

A little about myself: I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I began my career in education at John Glenn Elementary and taught kindergarten, second, and third grade. Most recently, I served as the vice principal at Linton Elementary for the past 7 years. I have been married for the past 20 years and have four wonderful children.
I consider it to be an honor and blessings to serve this community. I myself am a product of this wonderful community. As a child, I attended Esparza Elementary, Sul Ross Middle School, and graduated from Holmes High School. I am very proud to say that I was born and raised in the community. I believe deeply that our students are capable of realizing all their dreams.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. Please know I am here to support your child and my door is always open. I look forward to being your partner in your child's education.

Bienvenido Jaguares!

Well Hello, Awesome Jaguar Family! I am so happy to be in my fourth year as the Vice Principal here at Villarreal. Prior to being a VP, I was one of the Language Support Teachers working with Dual Language, Bilingual, and ESL students at Villarreal. Previously, I was a 4th-grade Bilingual Teacher for 7 years, in which I developed a love of teaching students writing. I am a firm believer that through education all children can achieve anything they set their minds to I know that this year will be a great year and am excited to see how much our students can achieve!

If you have any questions or wish to speak to me, please feel free to email me or call the office.

Since Villarreal is an AVID campus, we really want students to exude exemplary leadership skills and for them to set goals for their individual success. One of the campus goals this year is for students to follow the three campus behavior expectations. They are to 1. Be Safe. 2. Be Respectful. 3. Be Productive. As you walk our campus, you will see posters displayed throughout with the expectations on how to behave in the hallways, in the bathroom, at recess, in the cafeteria, and at assemblies. Students will have the opportunity to earn Jag Paws for attendance and positive behavior and Positive Referrals from staff members. In addition, students all have the opportunity to goal set in their classes for academics and behavior.

All students in every grade level carry a Citizenship folder where their daily is communicated to parents. Please take the time to initial in your child's folder and sign at the end of the week.

About me... I have been in education for 11 years and have been in the great district of Northside all 11. I am a proud graduate of St. Mary's University, where I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in 2007 and 2009 and played on the Lady Rattler's Softball Team. I returned for a second Master’s degree in Education Leadership at UTSA and graduated in 2014. I have a 6-month-old baby girl that was born in July and has been an amazing addition to my family, two stepdaughters, two dogs (Rocky and Bailey), and a cat (Nala). It is extremely busy, but we are a family and they support everything about my career as an educator.
