๐ First Week Highlights & Leadership Foundations
Our campus has been buzzing with energy and purpose. Throughout this initial week, our Global Leaders did an outstanding job mastering new routines, navigating campus hallways, practicing fire drills, building meaningful connections with new friends and teachers, and memorizing their lunch ID numbers.
During the Magnet Student Expectations discussions on Thursday, our 6th graders explored elements of learning in an interdisciplinary, project-based Magnet environment, examined effective leadership both in and out of the classroom, and finalized the session by initialing their Commitment Letters to the program.
Next week, we will continue this momentum across our upper grade levels:
- 7th-Grade Expectation Sessions: Focusing on "Hope & High Standards" stepping into role-model positions, building mature habits, and handling the rigor of their first HS-Credit course.
- 8th-Grade Expectation Sessions: Centering on "Leading with Integrity & Lasting Impact" as our most senior Global Leaders prepare for high school pathways while setting the benchmark for the entire campus.
๐ Magnet Expectation Letters
Please be on the lookout for your Global Leaderโs Magnet Student Expectations Letter coming home. This document outlines our shared core values:
- Striving to lead, learn, and leave a positive legacy every day.
- Serving as proud representatives and role models for our Magnet program.
- Treating peers, teachers, and campus guests with respect and kindness.
- Putting forth best effort in every academic and technical opportunity.
- Carrying the spirit and standards of our Magnet community into every environment.
We ask that you review these commitments together with your Global Leader, sign the document, and return it with your child next week.
๐ Celebrating the Reach & Diversity of Our Global Leaders
What truly elevates our Magnet community is the vibrant diversity and broad reach of our Global Leaders. This year, our 464 Global Leaders come together from 76 different elementary campuses spanning all 21 NISD middle school attendance zones, bringing a variety of experiences to our hallways every day.
Across our program, 12 distinct home languages are spoken, embodying the spirit of global communications and mutual understanding.
This powerful mix of cultures, perspectives, and talents ensures that every Global Leader learns to collaborate, innovate, and lead in an inclusive environment.
๐ป Looking Ahead: Clubs & Academic Pathways
Over the coming weeks, recruitment and information meetings will launch for our signature extracurricular programs:
- CyberPatriot: Join Texasโ most active middle-school cybersecurity competition program.
- Junior Model UN: Participate in San Antonioโs only public middle school Model UN team.
- Additional Campus Clubs: Hands-on opportunities in Esports, Robotics, and Drone Club
