Welcome to the O'Connor Library website!
The library is both the physical and intellectual hub of O'Connor High School. Its mission is to support and develop independent lifelong researchers and readers. In support of that mission, the library has a diverse collection of over 30,000 physical and electronic books available for student checkout, as well as 34 desktop computers and two 3D printers. In addition to classes that use the library, we are open for students before school, during Flex and lunch periods, and after school.

How many books can I check out at one time?
3 (but no more than 2 manga or comics)
How long can I check out books?
2 weeks (manga and comics are 3-day checkouts)
How do I know when my book is due?
The due date is stamped at the front of the book. You can also log into your account online in the library catalog here.
What if my book is due but I still need it?
You can renew books if you still need them! You can come by the library or log into your account on the library catalog. To renew online, go to the library catalog in your NISD portal, click on My Stuff>Checkouts at the top left, and then select the book(s) you want to renew (click the three dots at the bottom of your desired books).
How much are fines for overdue materials?
There are no fines for overdue materials. However, we ask that you return items in a timely manner for others to use. You will not be able to check out more books if you have overdue items.
Can I bring food or drinks into the library?
No, food and drinks are not allowed in the library.
How much does it cost to print?
Printing is free, but it must be for school purposes. Items printed that are not for class assignments will not be given to students. Please be mindful of how much and what you are printing to conserve toner and paper.
Color printing is limited to 10 pages.
Can I use the library during lunch?
Yes! You may come to the library during your lunch period to read or study, and you must sign in.
You can use library desktop computers for school purposes as long as a class is not using them during that time.
When a class is using the library during lunch, they have priority and space will be more limited to individual lunchtime students.
See the OC campus weekly slide show for the library's lunch availability each week, or check your Library class in Schoology.
Why do I have to sign in? It takes at least 30 seconds, sometimes longer!
Because we are required to keep track of who has visited the library and when. Sometimes teachers and administrators ask us if a student is in the library or previously came to the library, and we need to be able to look that up. We also have to keep records of how many students have come to the library.
Do I have to sign out?
Before school, you do not have to sign out. We sign out all students when the bell rings. During the school day, you must sign out if you leave before the end of the period. Once the bell rings for the end of the period, we sign out all students still signed in for that period.
Can I use the library restroom?
The library restroom is for students using the library or Tutoring Center. During classtime, you should use the restroom in your academic building. If the library is open during lunch, you may quietly sign in and use the restroom.
Can I stay in the library during my off-campus period?
No. Students with an off-campus period should be leaving campus. If you are staying after school for a specified activity, you may get a pass from your sponsor to stay in the library for the entire period(s) you are waiting that day. Be sure to arrive before the tardy bell rings or there may be no one available to open the library door for you.
I want to sign up for the library during Flex. Why can't I see it as an option in FlexiSched?
The library will open for the week's signup in FlexiSched during 2nd period on Monday. If you can't see the library as an option, here are the possible reasons why:
* The library has not opened for signup for this week yet.
* The library is already full that day.
* You are not passing all of your classes as of the most recent IPR report. Only students passing all their classes will be able to sign up for "open areas" such as the library.
