Welcome New Teachers

Northside ISD would like to extend a warm welcome to all new teachers joining us for the 2021-2022 school year. Whether you are new to the district or new to teaching, Northside is committed to supporting our new teachers. Our goal is to position you for success in the classroom.

New Teacher Academy 2021 Overview

You will start at the campus where you have been hired to teach.

  • Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Assistant Superintendents’ Addresses
  • Elementary C&I Content Sessions
  • Secondary C&I Content Sessions

 

All SE Co-Teachers, ECSE/ECC, ALE/AU, BMC and SLPs will meet at Stinson MS.

John Paul Stevens High School:

  • Secondary C&I Content Sessions continue
  • Elementary Physical Education & Fine Arts teachers will continue in their content sessions
  • Elementary teachers with 0-2 years of classroom teaching experience will attend “Setting Up Your Classroom Culture”

 

  • Special Education Teachers - including SE Co-teachers, ECSE/ECC, ALE/AU, BMC and SLPs - will have continued learning August 11-13 at Stinson MS.  Please contact Frances Patterson or Susanna Timm for information on these additional dates.

Required T-TESS Training

Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (T-TESS) Orientation is required for beginning teachers, teachers new to Texas, or teachers who have never been appraised with the T-TESS instrument.


If you are required to attend T-TESS training please plan to attend ONE of the following virtual sessions:

Training materials and session registration information will be distributed at New Teacher Academy on Day 1 and Day 2.

Current Situation Do I Need T-TESS?
This is my first year teaching. YES
I have never been appraised using T-TESS. YES
I was appraised using T-TESS within the last three years in another district. NO
I worked out of state or in another school district and we used another appraisal instrument. YES
I took a break from teaching for four years, but was appraised using T-TESS. YES
