The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has planned multiple blood drives in Northside ISD in March as the need for blood continues amid the coronavirus pandemic. Blood donations are greatly needed to prevent shortages.
Plasma donations are also needed from those who have recovered from COVID-19. While COVID-19 has no proven treatment, it is possible that convalescent plasma, which contains antibodies to the virus that causes COVID-19, may provide passive immunity to certain patients with severe forms of the illness. Donors will receive a $60 Visa gift card while supplies last.
