Mark your calendars – the Great Book Giveaway is coming soon! Northside librarians are teaming up to distribute free books to elementary and secondary students.
The drive-thru event will be held at two locations on Thursday, May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. –
Paul Taylor Field House, 7001 Culebra Road
Brennan High School, 2400 Cottonwood Way
Each student will receive a bag of new or gently-used books while supplies last. This is the second year for a drive-thru literacy night, and the fifth year Brennan HS has hosted the event. Last year, more than 5,000 children received books. This year, 5,000 bags will be distributed at each location.
With summer approaching, event organizers want to ensure children have access to reading materials at home.
Event sponsors include H-E-B and Half Price Books.
