Northside ISD will open its 12th comprehensive high school, Sonia Sotomayor High School, in August 2022. The campus is located across from Government Canyon off Galm Road at 12801 Tall Timber Lane. Sotomayor HS will primarily relieve Harlan, as well as O’Connor, and Taft high schools.
Families with students in the 7th through 11th grade in the proposed zone will receive emailed communications in early September.
Students who will be in 12th grade during the 2022-2023 school year in the new Sotomayor High School attendance area will remain at their current high school. The high school will open without a senior class.
The School Boundary Advisory Committee (SBAC), made up of NISD parents, will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Harlan High School to gather input on the boundary change proposal. The committee will make a recommendation to the NISD Board of Trustees who will vote on the attendance zone at their regular Board meeting on Oct. 26.
