Teams compete in FIRST LEGO competition

Thirty six teams representing thirty elementary and middle school campuses will compete in a FIRST LEGO League robotics qualifier in Northside the week of March 22.

Due to COVID-19, the format of the competition has been redesigned in accordance with safety protocols.

Opening and closing ceremonies will be streamed by FIRST in Texas – Alamo Region and can be viewed on Facebook or YouTube at the following dates/times.

  • Opening Ceremony – Tuesday, March 23, 6 p.m.
  • Closing Ceremony – Saturday, March 27, 6 p.m.

The teams will also meet virtually with two to three judges, between Wednesday and Friday, for a 30 minute time period to present and answer questions about their Innovation Project, Robot Design, and share what they learned about FIRST Core Values.

On Saturday, March 27, the teams will rotate through the Northside Activity Center in groups of four to compete in the robot game missions. Only the students and the sponsors will be allowed inside during this portion of the competition.

16 NISD teams will advance to the Alamo Region Championship on May 22.
