This course is designed to ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to live healthy and productive lifestyles. Students gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge and behaviors they use to safeguard their health, primarily pertaining to health risk factors. Students learn how to use problem-solving, research, goal setting, and communication skills to protect their health and that of the community. Areas of study include physical, mental, emotional, environmental, and social wellness.
This course includes instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) required for graduation under Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Section 74.38.
