Northside School of Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship (NSITE)
NISD College, Career, and Military Readiness Philosophy
In Northside ISD, we believe that all students deserve a quality education that prepares them to be engaged and successful citizens who contribute to their community while in high school and after graduation. The daily, rich educational opportunities that we offer prepares all students for the next steps after high school, whether it be college, career, or military.
How does NISD help to ensure students are College, Career, and Military Ready (CCMR)?
CCMR is a measure that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) uses to determine if a student is prepared for post-secondary opportunities including college, the workforce, or the military. Students have multiple pathways to demonstrate if they are College Ready, Career Ready, and/or Military Ready:
College Readiness
Demonstrate success in testing.
- Meet TSI criteria in ELA/reading and mathematics on the TSIA2, SAT, and/or ACT
- Successfully complete the College Prep English course and meet TSI criteria in mathematics on the TSIA2, SAT, and/or ACT
Demonstrate success in advanced courses.
- Meet AP/IB criteria by earning a qualifying score on the AP/IB exam
- Earn credit hours in Dual Credit Courses
- Successfully complete an OnRamps dual-enrollment course
Career Readiness
Demonstrate success in the Completion of a Program of Study (POS) and earn an aligned CTE Industry-Based Certifications (IBC).
- Complete a CTE coherent sequence, earning 4 or more credits in 3 classes with one class being a Level 3 or 4 course and earn an aligned industry-based certification
- Earn a Level I certificate in a CTE program while taking a significant number of CTE Dual Credit courses
Military Readiness
- Enlist in the US Armed Forces after graduation
- Beginning with the Class of 2027, complete 4 years of JROTC and achieve a passing score on the ASVAB test
A graduate receiving Special Education Services achieves CCMR by meeting any of the indicators above for College, Career, and/or Military Readiness or through one of the two pathways indicated below:
- Graduate with an Advanced Degree Plan, the Foundations High School Plan with an Endorsement
- Graduate with a completed IEP and demonstrate Workforce Readiness
