At Behlau, our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) provides special education services to children ages 3-5 who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Services begin on the child’s 3rd birthday. ECSE services are provided through a continuum of services options that may include, “drop-in” speech therapy, in-class support, or specialized instruction. Decisions about a child’s program are made by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee and based on the child’s assessment information. Our ECSE and Pre-K classrooms utilize the TEA Pre-K Guidelines as the preschool curriculum. The HighScope instructional framework is the foundation for the daily routine, adult child interactions, and the classroom learning environment.
