Northside ISD is currently in the planning phase for the 2026 School Bond Program. The Citizens' Bond Committee plays an important role in this process by reviewing district needs, evaluating potential projects, and providing feedback and recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Made up of parents, community members, business representatives, staff, and students, the committee helps ensure a broad range of perspectives are considered as future bond recommendations are developed.
Information will be added to this website as it becomes available. Visit the Citizens Bond Committee page for meeting information, presentations, and updates.
Understanding the Difference Between VATRE and Bond
Both the 2026 VATRE and School Bond elections support Northside ISD, but they fund different needs and are governed by different state requirements.
VATRE (M&O) | School Bond (I&S) |
|---|---|
| Keeps It Running | Builds It |
| Funds daily operations | Funds long-term capital projects |
| Teacher and staff salaries | New schools and additions |
| Utilities and electricity | Renovations and upgrades |
| Classroom supplies | HVAC and infrastructure |
| Transportation and bus fuel | Technology and security improvements |
| Cannot fund major construction projects | Cannot fund salaries or daily operating costs |
VATRE (M&O): Keeps It Running
Like a household budget that pays for groceries, utility bills, gas for the car, and routine maintenance, a VATRE supports the day-to-day operation of schools.
Examples include:
- Teacher and staff salaries
- Utilities and electricity
- Classroom supplies
- Transportation and bus fuel
School Bond (I&S): Builds It
Like a household budget that pays for a mortgage, a new roof, purchasing a vehicle, or other major investments, a school bond supports long-term facility improvements and construction projects.
Examples include:
- New schools and additions
- Renovations and upgrades
- HVAC systems and infrastructure
- Technology and security improvements
