“We are excited to see students in our hallways when school opens on Aug. 23,” says Dr. Brian Woods, superintendent. “We remain committed to keeping our students and staff as safe as possible under the constraints given to us, but just like the last two school years, we will get through this even better than ever.”

With the start of the school year in less than a month, here are some helpful tips for parents and students as we all prepare to be “Northside Reunited.”

Registration: All new Northside ISD students should register online by clicking the appropriate link. Additional registration and general enrollment information is also available on that webpage.

What school will your child attend? NISD assigns students to schools according to the street address where the student resides. The Boundaries and Buses Information System will provide you with the name and address of the schools serving your area.

Transportation: Bus routes for the 2021-2022 school year will be available on Aug. 16 on Buses and Boundaries Information System. It is anticipated that buses will reach full capacity and masks are strongly encouraged for all students while on the bus. Bus drivers will have masks available should a student request a mask. All buses are also equipped with hand sanitizer for students to utilize as they enter the bus. The Transportation Department will continue to do their part in keeping all who ride the bus healthy by sanitizing the bus after each route.

School Supplies: School supply lists are available here. Elementary Schools are listed and a few middle schools provided information; however, most middle schools will share supply needs with students on the first week of school.

Free meals for all: No need to pack a lunch, as NISD will provide free, healthy meals (breakfast and lunch) this school year for all students in the District, regardless of financial status. Additional details here.

Immunizations must be up-to-date: Due to the pandemic and subsequent closures, some students may not have the requisite number of shots to be prepared for the first day of school. University Health System is offering a convenient way for parents to stay up-to-date with their child’s immunizations. They will dispatch a mobile clinic to multiple campuses in August. Click here for a list of immunization requirements, as well as dates and locations for the mobile clinics. Contact the Health Services Department at 210-397-3551 with questions.

Website just for parents: Be sure to check out the parent hub, a website for parents with quick access to district services like registration, grades and attendance, library services, etc.

Keep up with what’s going on in NISD: While one-on-one communication is the best, in a District as large as Northside ISD it is sometimes difficult. Because we want our parents to stay informed, NISD has several ways that parents and other interested citizens can stay informed about the successes and challenges of San Antonio’s premier school district of choice, as well as find out news about their children’s schools. Click here for a list of communications tools available for parents.
