Drug take-back day set for Oct. 29

Now is the perfect time to empty medicine cabinets, bedside tables, and kitchen drawers of unwanted, unused, and expired prescription drugs as the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) holds its annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Prescription drugs can be taken to any designated drop off site between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drop off sites in the NISD area include the parking lot on the East side of Farris Stadium (Skyhawk Drive/1604 frontage road), which will be manned by the Northside ISD Police Department.

Take-Back Day focuses on providing a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications. Last year, Take Back Day brought in 744.082 pounds (almost 372 tons) of unused or expired prescription medication and vape devices.
