NISD announces 2021 District Educators of the Year

2021 District Educators of the Year

Three first-year and three veteran teachers were named District Educators of the Year during special virtual celebrations held to honor teachers who give 100 percent when it comes to improving the lives of children. In addition, Northside’s nominee for the 2021 Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching was announced.

The 2021 Northside Educators of the Year are:

  • Alicia Acosta-Delgado, librarian, Kuentz Elementary School
  • Corine Garcia, Applied English Language Arts teacher, Rayburn Middle School
  • Miguel Mendez, Special Education teacher, Holmgreen Center

The 2021 Northside First Year Educators of the Year are:

  • Christina Calabro, kindergarten teacher, Leon Springs Elementary School
  • Allexandra Lyons, math teacher, Ross Middle School
  • Kirstie Wilber, health science teacher, Health Careers High School

And, the District’s nominee for the 2021 Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching Award is Gustavo Trevino, is a Communication Application teacher at Neff Middle School.

 A panel of NISD educators selected the District winners from among the 206 campus Educators of the Year.
