Julie Meneses
Julie Meneses - Principal
I am truly honored and excited to serve as the Principal of Howsman Elementary. Joining the Howsman community is both a privilege and an incredible opportunity, and I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our students, families, staff, and community partners as we work together to ensure every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
I earned my degree in Bilingual Education from The University of Texas at San Antonio and began my career as a bilingual classroom teacher, serving students in third and fourth grade. While teaching, I pursued a degree in Educational Leadership, which led to my role as a Bilingual & ESL Facilitator supporting students and teachers from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. These experiences shaped my deep commitment to instructional excellence, equity, and student success.

In 2014, I joined Northside Independent School District as a proud member of the Bonnie Ellison Elementary community, first serving as a fifth-grade teacher before becoming Vice Principal and later Principal. For the past nine years, I have had the incredible honor of serving as Principal of Bonnie Ellison Elementary, where I focused on fostering a collaborative school culture centered on strong relationships, high expectations, innovation, and student growth.

My leadership style is hands-on, student-centered, and solution-driven. I firmly believe that when educators, families, and communities work together with love, humility, and purpose, we create extraordinary opportunities for children. I am passionate about supporting teachers, empowering students to become confident leaders, and creating a school environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

As I begin this new journey as a Howsman Eagle, I am inspired by what the eagle represents—strength, courage, leadership, vision, and the ability to soar to great heights. I believe every child has unlimited potential, and I am committed to helping our students spread their wings, believe in themselves, and achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Outside of school, I am happily married to my supportive husband, Greg, and am the proud mother of two wonderful sons, Vicente and Gael. My family is one of my greatest blessings and is at the heart of everything I do. Because of them, I understand the importance of creating a school community where students and families feel welcomed, supported, and connected.

I am incredibly excited to begin this new chapter at Howsman Elementary and look forward to partnering with our school community to make this an amazing year for all students. My door is always open, and I cannot wait to meet and work alongside each of you!

My name is Shannon De La Cruz and I have been in education since 2005. Prior to becoming the Associate Principal of Howsman, I started my teaching career at Southwest ISD as a kindergarten teacher. Then I transitioned to Northside ISD where I taught at Mary Michael Elementary and Ed Cody Elementary in grades 3rd and 4th. I eventually became a Special Education Coordinator and teacher, where I supported students and their families at every grade level.

I earned my bachelor’s and Master's degrees at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I grew up in San Antonio and am also a product of Northside ISD in which I attend Westwood Terrace Elementary, Anson Jones Middle School, and John Jay High School. I am also the proud parent of three sons who are Northside students and a husband who is a Northside teacher.

It is an honor to give back to Northside and be a part of the Howsman family. I look forward to watching our students grow and supporting our parents and community as we build a foundation of learning.
