Krueger Elementary Bike Rodeo - February 27th, 2020

Dear Family,

We are excited to announce that Krueger’s Annual Bike Rodeo will be Thursday February 27th, 2020. If your child will be participating please make arrangements to bring their bicycle on the day of the bike rodeo. Bicycles need to be taken to the fence line along the front loop. Please do not drop-off bicycles at the bus loop.  Each bicycle and helmet should be labeled with the student’s name.  Parents may pick up their child’s bike as soon as their grade level has finished competing.  All bicycles must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. on the day of the event.    

Students will compete at the following times:

 

4th Grade……………………………….8:35am-9:20am                  Kinder…………………………………………12:15pm-1:00pm

Pre-K, ECC, ECSE…………………9:05am-9:20am                  ECSE(PM)…………………………………..12:45pm-1:00pm

5th Grade……………………………….9:25am-10:10am                 1st Grade…………………………………….1:05pm-1:50pm

3rd Grade……………………………….10:15am-11:00am                2nd Grade……………………………………1:55pm-2:40pm

 

 

The following items will be inspected on each bicycle and are worth a total of 100 points:  front headlight (flashlight OK), hand grips in place, rear red reflector, bell or horn, handlebars intact, wheels on properly, steering post in working order, steady seat, properly shaped spokes, chain on proper tension, tires in good shape, pedals in good condition, brakes in working order, and chain guard on properly.  Please encourage your child to bring their helmet.   It is worth 10 points!  After the inspection, the students will compete in four skill events to judge their “driving” ability.  The following skill events are worth a total of 100 points: Balance (riding slowly between 2 straight lines), Maneuvering (weaving in and out of cones), Straight Line Steering (steering between 2 lines) and Circle Steering (riding in double circle 2 feet wide).   Students may participate in the Bike Rodeo if they use a balance bike or their bicycle has training wheels, but they will not be scored.  Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers and certificates will be given to all participants.  If it rains the bike rodeo will be cancelled and we will attempt to reschedule with S.A.P.D.  If you have any questions or concerns about the Bike Rodeo please contact us.
