Welcome to McDermott Elementary! I am excited and honored to serve as your Associate Principal. I am definitely a true product of Northside schools having attended Ed Cody Elementary, Pease Middle School, and John Jay High School. After graduating high school, I went on to receive my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas-San Antonio in 2009, and loved education so much, I decided to go back to UTSA to obtain my Masters in Educational Leadership in 2018.

Being blessed to have worked in the school district I grew up in, I taught various grade levels for 11 years before deciding I wanted to make a larger impact on the educational community and move into administration at Mead Elementary. I have followed strong leaders in NISD, and have helped open four elementary schools by their side at Langley, Lieck, Boldt and Tomlinson Elementary. I was even blessed to meet my beautiful wife, Edna, along the way.

Being of service to 5 elementary schools throughout the years, there are many differences in communities, but they all share one thing in common. It really is all about the kids, and I am happy to serve and ensure every student receives a strong, quality education, as I did, here in Northside. I am excited to embark on this journey with you all, and help welcome everyone to our Falcon family.
