Tawny Wagner - Principal
My name is Tawny Wagner and I am the very proud Principal of Robert F. McDermott Elementary School. I began teaching in Northside ISD in 2005 and have had the opportunity to grow as an educator and leader through various positions and opportunities within NISD. I have served the communities of Wanke E.S., Powell ES, Oak Hills Terrace E.S, McAndrew E.S, Rhodes E.S. and Carson E.S. I now have the honor to serve our McDermott community as a partner and advocate for our children. Our community has welcomed me with open arms and I am so excited to call McDermott home.

As a product of Northside ISD myself, I believe in the work we do and the importance of a strong relationship between school and home. We have amazing opportunities for both our families and our students. We have a guaranteed and viable curriculum that engages our students in lessons and activities that support higher levels of learning and understanding. We offer after school clubs/enrichment, parent engagement events, social and emotional development, and Fine Arts programs. Our school is rich in culture and we celebrate our diversity!

Come join our family! At McDermott Elementary, we do great things!

Hello Falcon Families,
I am thrilled to be a part of the McDermott family. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your Associate Principal.

This year will be my seventeenth year in education, and my eleventh in Northside. I began my teaching career in 2006 as a 2nd grade teacher in Edgewood ISD. I joined Northside ISD in 2013 as a 4th grade teacher at Passmore and proceeded to Glenoaks as a Math Specialist. Soon after, I had the opportunity to serve as an Admin Intern at Glenn and McDermott.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2006, and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2014, both from Our Lady of the Lake University. In 2021, I continued on to receive my Masters in Educational Leadership from UT Tyler.

I was born and raised in San Antonio, and am a proud product of Northside. I assure you I am dedicated to each and every one of our students and I truly believe all students can and will learn. I am so excited to be a part of the McDermott community and family. I look forward to helping our little falcons be the best they can be!
