The Broadcast Team gives students the chance to lead daily announcements, develop public speaking skills, and learn basic video production. Members work together to plan, script, and present important school news in a fun and engaging way. It's a great opportunity for students to build confidence and be the voice of our school!
Students will work in pairs to design and create arcade type games using cardboard material. Their games will be run at a family school event.
Students practice singing and perform at various school events.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a fun, engaging and educational program that combines robotics and computer programing skills. Students will have the opportunity to explore, collaborate, apply and create projects that enable critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills with new gained knowledge.
Our Esports Club is an exciting opportunity for students to engage in competitive video gaming in a fun and supportive environment. Through teamwork, strategy, and problem-solving, students learn valuable skills like communication, critical thinking, and sportsmanship.
This club emphasizes collaboration and perseverance as students work together to achieve their goals while exploring the growing world of esports. Itโs a great way for students to connect with peers, build confidence, and develop a positive relationship with technology. Whether competing or simply enjoying the games, everyone has a chance to shine in our Esports Club!
Flight Club is a tuition-based after-school program for Kindergarten and First Grade students in Northside Independent School District. It is an engineering program where students work in teams or individually to design, test, and modify 4 tools that interact with air - kites, parachutes, paper airplanes, and simple rockets. Students learn about the basic principles of flight and design when creating each of these tools. It's a great opportunity for students to challenge their thinking and gives them hands-on ways to see how these tools are built and how they work!
One of the great features of our music program is our 5th grade strings. Students are given the opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Classes are free, but students will need to provide (rent) their own instrument. Instruction begins in September and end in December.
At Myers Elementary, we pride ourselves on nurturing future leaders while ensuring the safety of our campus. Our student safety patrols, a dedicated group of young leaders, are integral to this mission, assisting with essential duties before and after school. These students exemplify responsibility and attentiveness, guiding their peers safely through crowded spaces and monitoring school zones to maintain order. Solar Cars is a non-tuition based after-school science enrichment program for fourth and fifth grade students. Students will build engineering skills as they work in teams to design and build a working solar car model and represent Myers Elementary in the districtโs Solar Car Race. Students will apply science knowledge, creativity, and grit to work this exciting engineering task.
Young Astronauts is an after-school science enrichment program for fourth and fifth grade students. The topic changes each year, and all lessons and activities focus on building student interest and understanding in the area of space science. The program culminates in February with our annual Stargazing event for fifth grade Young Astronaut.
