Extracurriculars

Cardboard Arcade is a tuition-based after-school program for 2nd grade students in Northside Independent School District. It is an engineering program where students work virtually in teams or individually to design, test, redesign, retest, and eventually create a working arcade-type game. Students consider game design, rules for playing, and prior science knowledge when designing their games.

Flight Club is an after-school science enrichment program for kindergarten and first grade students. Students will build engineering skills as they work individually to design, test, and modify four tools that interact with air: kites, parachutes, paper airplanes, and simple rockets. Students will learn about the basic principles of flight and design when creating each of these tools.

Powell's 4th and 5th grade garden club members are committed to beautifying our campus. They will learn about Texas native plants and how to care and keep a garden growing. 

Powell's Run club will run/walk 2-3 Miles in preparation for the NEF 5K

Morning and Afternoon Patrols. Assist in opening doors, displaying of flags, walking students to class. Helping out at assemblies.

Solar Cars is a non-tuition based after-school science enrichment program for 4th - 8th grade students. Students will build engineering skills as they work in teams to design and build a working solar car model. Students will apply science knowledge, creativity, and grit to work this exciting engineering task.

Powell's speed stack club will practice in preparation for the March Elementary Tournament

STEM Sisters is a group of 4th and 5th grade girls that apply STEM components to complete investigations.

The Powell Student Council is a group of 4th and 5th grade class representatives who meet monthly to promote leadership, teamwork, school spirit, and pride throughout our school and community.

Young Astronauts is a tuition-based after-school science enrichment program for fourth and fifth grade students. This year's topic is Astronauts at Work, and all lessons and activities focus on building student interest and understanding in the area of space science. The program culminates in February with our annual Stargazing event for fifth grade Young Astronauts.
