It is my pleasure to be able to serve as the Principal at Powell Elementary.
I have been in education for 18 years where I joined NISD as an Instructional Assistant at Dr. Joe Ward Elementary, Special Education teacher at Howsman Elementary, Special Education Coordinator at Ward Elementary, Administrator Intern at Carlos Coon, Vice-Principal at Christian Evers and Associate Principal at Ward Elementary. I am excited to now be a part of the Powell Family.
At Powell Elementary, our core beliefs are to provide a safe and challenging environment for our students to learn at their maximum potential and create opportunities that foster meaningful relationships among students, staff, families and the community. Our partnership between home and school is extremely important for the success of every child. We would like to encourage our families to join our Powell PTA and stay connected to the great things that our teachers at Powell are doing every day.
On behalf of our Powell staff, we are ignited and grateful to do the work we do with every child so please do not hesitate to contact us for any questions. or support. Go Thunderbirds!

Mrs. Muñoz has been part of Northside ISD since 2009. She began her teaching career as a Kinder and First grade teacher at Langley ES and was a Reading Specialist at Westwood Terrace for six years. She then became an Admin Intern at Cable Elementary for one year before coming to Powell ES to serve as Associate Principal.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's in Literacy Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio as well as a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Building strong relationships with the students, staff and the community at Powell is at the forefront of her work.
