The art specialist hosts an after school club for 5th grade students every 3rd semester of the school year (Jan.-Mar.). The purpose of the club is for students to have a weekly opportunity to develop art skills and compile a portfolio to present at district art events. Additionally, the students who are invited to join the art club will also have the opportunity to attend an end of year field trip to a local art museum.

A team of two teachers facilitate a team of ten 4th & 5th-grade students in learning how to build a robot and code the robot to complete as many missions as possible in 2.5 minutes. Robotics is for any student interested in becoming a problem solver and learning to work in a team. In addition to the robot game, the team is also responsible for an innovation project that addresses the future of energy usage and consumption. The group will compete in a district-wide qualifier match in the winter of 2023 (January or February) and may continue competing based on qualifier scores. The team will begin meeting Thursday October 20th. Application process will start late September and will be due THURSDAY October 12th.

Solar Cars is a non-tuition based after-school science enrichment program for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. Students will build engineering skills as they work in teams to design and build a working solar car model. Students will apply science knowledge, creativity, and grit to work this exciting engineering task. Young Astronauts begins in the the Spring.

Every Monday and Wednesday morning from 7:00-7:40 A.M

One of the great features of our music program is our 5th grade strings taught by Ms. Sarah Hayter, orchestra director from Jordan MIddle School.  Students are given the opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello, or double bass.  Classes are every Monday and Wednesday morning from 7:00-7:40 A.M.  Classes are free, but students will need to provide (rent) their own instrument.  Instruction begins on Monday, September 19th but students are welcome to join through the end of the month.  For questions feel free to contact our music specialist Douglas Boldt at douglas.boldt@nisd.net or Sarah Hayter at sarah.hayter@nisd.net.  Attached are forms with more information.

Young Astronauts is a non-tuition based after-school science enrichment program for fourth and fifth grade students. The topic changes each year, and all lessons and activities focus on building student interest and understanding in the area of space science. The program normally culminates in February with our annual Stargazing event for fifth grade Young Astronauts. Young Astronauts begins in the the Spring.
