Kimberly Contreras-Tamez - Principal
Kimberly Tamez is the principal of Knowlton Elementary School. She has been an educator for over 25 years and has been serving the students and families of NISD for the last 23 years. In this time, she has been a substitute teacher, Instructional Assistant, Discovery Teacher, Collab Teacher and Reading Specialist.

Mrs. Tamez was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and is a product of NISD. She attended Forest Hills Elementary, which is now Villarreal Elementary. She then attended Sul Ross Middle School and then graduated from Holmes High School. She is a proud UTSA Alumni. “ GO RUNNERS!”
“My parents made it a point to always encourage and support us in our education and extracurricular activities.”

She is married to Sal, who is also an educator in NISD. Mrs. Tamez is the proud mother of three children, Jacob, Gabriel and Evie, who also have attended Northside Schools.

I look forward to working with our students and families. Together we can do GREAT things!



Kimberly Tamez es la directora de la Escuela Primaria Knowlton. Ella ha sido educadora por más de 25 años y ha estado sirviendo a los estudiantes y familias de NISD por los últimos 23 años. A través de los años, ha sido suplente de maestra, Asistente de Maestra, Maestra de Educación Física, Maestra Colaborativa con Educación Especial y Especialista en Lectura.

La Sra. Tamez nació y creció en San Antonio, TX y es producto de NISD. Asistió a la Escuela Primaria Villarreal, formalmente Forest Hills. Después fue a la Escuela Secundaria Sul Ross y se graduó de la Preparatoria Holmes. Es orgullosamente egresada de UTSA. “GO RUNNERS!”

Está casada con Sal, quien también es maestro en NISD. La Sra. Tamez es la orgullosa madre de tres hijos, Jacob, Gabriel y Evie, quienes también han asistido a escuelas de Northside.

Espero trabajar con nuestros estudiantes y familias. ¡Juntos podemos hacer GRANDES cosas!

Amanda Munoz - Associate Principal

The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at amanda.munoz@nisd.net or by phone at 210-397-2615.

Mrs. Muñoz has been part of Northside ISD since 2009. She began her teaching career as a Kinder and First grade teacher at Langley ES and was a Reading Specialist at Westwood Terrace for six years. She then served as an Admin Intern at Cable ES and Associate Principal at Powell ES before coming to Knowlton ES to serve as Associate Principal.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's in Literacy Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio as well as a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Building strong relationships with the students, staff and the community at Knowlton is at the forefront of her work.


La Sra. Muñoz ha sido parte del Distrito Independiente de Northside desde el 2009. Comenzó su carrera como maestra de Kinder y Primer Grado en la Primaria Langley y fue Especialista en Lectura en la Primaria Westwood Terrace durante seis años. Luego se desempeñó como Pasante de Directora en la Primaria Cable y Subdirectora en la Primaria Powell antes de llegar a la Primaria Knowlton para servir como Subdirectora.

Ella tiene una licenciatura en Estudios Interdisciplinarios y una Maestría en Educación de Alfabetización de la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio, así como una Maestría en Liderazgo Educativo de la Universidad de Texas en Tyler.

Una de las prioridades de su trabajo es establecer relaciones sólidas con los estudiantes, el personal y la comunidad en Knowlton.
