3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls! Lace up your running shoes and join us for Girls on the Run, a social-emotional-learning club mixed with running! Build your self confidence and positive relationships with others, and get a great workout, too.
Mid October 2026-March 30, 2027/Tuesdays and Thursdays/3:05-4:00pm (I would need to have a discovery specialist cover my crosswalk duty and I could watch the clubs in the gym on the days of skipper club practices)
The Steubing Skippers Fitness Club is an afterschool program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and community. Through team jumping, students learn how to work well with each other, build confidence and leadership skills. Students succeed through independent thinking, excellent listening, and following directions. As skills mature, students turn to one another for direction and guidance. Team members learn to have fun while practicing self discipline, learning techniques and getting physically fit.

5th Grade Strings is a beginner orchestra class where students learn to play the violin, viola, cello or bass. This group meets all year long on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:15 PM. If students complete the year successfully, they are automatically placed in an intermediate orchestra class when they go to middle school.

Choir is a great opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students that want to explore music outside of their normal music class time. We sing and play instruments at a number of events throughout the year. This group meets all year long on Wednesday.

- Esports Explorers is an afterschool program for 5th graders where students will collaborate in Minecraft Education challenges. The club will also include lessons that provide students with social emotional strategies on healthy gaming habits, such as the importance of exercise, nutrition, and digital citizenship.

The goals of Project ACORN are to improve environmental literacy for participating PreK - 8th grade students through hands-on, inquiry-based science activities and to increase community involvement in environmental science activities by addressing plant biodiversity in the San Antonio River watershed.
Students will plant and maintain a butterfly and vegetable garden. They receive inquiry-based science instruction on environmental education topics. They also collect data and take environmental measurements and report findings in a global scientific database (GLOBE).
Wednesdays in the Library Robotics Room
Robotics is an international organization that focuses on three components: Core Values, Innovation Program, Robot Design and Game Play. During our sessions students are researching challenges we are currently facing; Design, build, test and program robots; Apply real-world math and science concepts; Learn critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills; Participate in tournaments and celebrations. This program is designated for 4th and 5th grade students.
The district Robotics tournament is in late January or early February.

STEAM Team is a club to encourage third grade students to use their creativity to design during several engineering challenges. The challenge is to design Rube Goldberg machines, which are fun, yet complicated, humorous machines that perform a simple task.

Are you a 3rd, 4th, or 5th Grader that would like to learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube? If so, then join the Steubing Cubing Club! You will learn the steps to solve a cube using the beginner's algorithm. No experience with cubing necessary! Rubik's Cubes will be provided, but you can definitely bring your own if you have one.

Attention 4th-5th Graders, come join yearbook club! We will be taking pictures of: school events, cool things that teachers/students are doing in the classrooms, special school days, deciding on this year's theme, and making the final selection of the yearbook cover art.
